A traditional invitation politely and formally informs of the upcoming ceremony indicating its time and place. No abbreviations are acceptable for the purpose – the date, time and year, the street name and house number are written in full. A modern wedding invitation comes from groom and bride, whereas in the traditional version the texts is drawn by the parents of the bride who «request the honour of presence» at the marriage of their daughter (first name only) to (the groom's first name and family name). A single invitation is made for spouses. A separate invitation is sent to children older than 18. The most respectable persons and elderly people should be invited by future newly weds personally. This invitation has to be confirmed in writing. Invitations are sent 8 weeks prior to the expected ceremony date and not later than two weeks before the wedding. It is recommended to buy some more invitations than needed according to the guest list.
